‘Damn Yankees’: 5th Avenue Theatre might have a hit

Picking the best baseball movie might be a toss-up: There have been so many good ones — from “The Pride of the Yankees” to “Moneyball.”

But best Broadway musical about baseball? No contest.

Of course it is “Damn Yankees,” a zesty 1955 hybrid of fantasy baseball and Faust. Just as the Seattle Mariners season is revving up (let’s hope!), the 5th Avenue Theatre is offering a colorful, boisterous production of this joyously retro romp.
